Description: This class is a beginning to intermediate class. Beginners will initially receive more structured instruction, especially in the first few classes. The instructor will be available to consult, answer questions, and provide demonstrations for more intermediate students as well. Instruction will cover basic hand-building techniques and basic wheel throwing. You will learn traditional methods of forming, joining, and constructing your pots. The instructor has many years of experience and class demos will vary depending on what students want to learn and practice.
Supplies: Cone 10 clay (available for purchase at MAC), a basic ceramics tool kit (wire cutter, needle tool, wooden knife, wooden rib, metal rib, and two trimming tools available for purchase at MAC), and a towel. We recommend you wear clothes that can get dirty. Many students also choose to wear an apron.

Description: Intermediate to advanced class is an open studio style class with our experienced instructor available for instruction and demonstrations as needed and as requested by students. The instructor is available to instruct in a variety of forming techniques, wheel throwing, the production of functional pottery, hand building, and surface design techniques like stamping, carving, and slip decoration.

Ceramic Mosaic
Age Group: Teen to Adult Duration: 8 weeks

Description: During this course we will explore making mosaics using different ceramic tile techniques. We will venture through the many approaches and styles of mosaics like: mixed-media mosaics, hand-drawn designs or image mosaics. We’ll also study texture application, glazing combinations and the option of adding glass and/or stones to your mosaics. Examples of different types of mosaics, as well as informative handouts will help inspire your designs. There are many beautiful approaches and ways to build a ceramic mosaic, so the sky is the limit!
